Google Shopping Add-On
Improve the data quality of your data feeds for Google Shopping and Google AdWords.
Improve your product data feeds and increase sales on Google Shopping.
The topic of data quality of data feeds in Merchant Center is a red hot topic. In order to be listed/ranked high in Google Shopping search results you have to provide a high quality data feed according to Google guidelines. If this is not the case, there is a risk that Google will block the entire data feed in the Merchant Center. With Synesty Studio you can prepare, improve and optimize product data feeds. If you need assistance with this, feel free to contact us and we will help you prepare your product data feeds for optimal placement in Google Shopping search results.
Store systems often have export functions to create data feeds. But often the store owner has no influence on the generation so that certain optimizations and adjustments are only possible with the help of a programmer. This makes it difficult to generate exactly the format as required. Google’s feed specification also changes frequently, so adjustments are necessary on an ongoing basis to stay ahead.
Eventually, the feed may be rejected by the Google Shopping Merchant Center, for example, and in the worst case, the account may be suspended because the data feed contains too many errors. Errors can be the most different things, e.g. that certain attributes are missing (e.g. EAN), EANs are wrong (e.g. 12-digit instead of 13-digit), column names are written wrong or comma instead of dot is used as decimal separator for prices.
With Synesty Studio you can improve and optimize data feeds and automate the whole process.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I connect FTP, CSV, XML or APIs to Google Shopping (Bulk Import, Bulk Export)?
With Synesty Studio you have maximum flexibility: you can connect Google Shopping to all common data formats, data sources and systems including HTTP(S), (S)FTP, Dropbox, Google Drive and file formats like CSV data feeds, Excel XLS, XML or JSON. Synesty is particularly strong in mass import, mass export and bulk updates. All add-ons also offer steps for reading and writing data from the corresponding systems – including e-commerce shop systems, ERP, dropshipping suppliers, BMEcat, marketplaces or online marketing software. This makes it easy to connect a wide variety of systems to Google Shopping, mostly through ready-made building blocks (no code). Steps like Mapper and Filter give you powerful tools to manipulate, filter or enrich the data to create any target format you need. This covers simple use cases (e.g. when a CSV file is enough) as well as more complex scenarios like XML files, REST API or GraphQL integrations. Through the integrated scripting language Freemarker you have the full power of IF-THEN-ELSE logic and loops to customize your integration.
Can I use Synesty for the switch or migration to Google Shopping?
Yes – Synesty is ideally suited for transitioning or migrating to Google Shopping. The platform provides a comprehensive set of tools to efficiently transform and integrate external data into Google Shopping. Here are the key benefits: Data Integration: Synesty supports numerous data formats and source systems. No matter where your data originates from, you can convert it into a format suitable for Google Shopping. Data Cleansing: Before migrating, Synesty helps you cleanse and normalize your data – removing duplicates, correcting inconsistencies, ensuring accuracy and uniformity. Automation: After the initial migration, use Synesty to automate recurring data transfers and keep Google Shopping in sync with your other systems. Logging and Monitoring: Synesty provides detailed logs and notifications so you can closely monitor the migration and be instantly notified if any issues arise. Scalability: Whether migrating a modest amount of data or vast databases, Synesty handles any scale with consistent performance. In short, Synesty not only provides the tools for a successful migration to Google Shopping – it ensures the entire process is smooth, secure and efficient. After completing the migration, you can continue to rely on Synesty for all your data integration and automation needs.
Can I connect Google Shopping with other APIs and tools (e.g. REST API, GraphQL, CSV) when there is no Synesty Add-On for my system?
Yes – and it’s easier than you might think. Even if there is no dedicated Add-On yet, Google Shopping can be connected via the API-Connector-Tools. If there is an HTTP API or a file-based data exchange exists (e.g. (S)FTP or Cloud-Storage), the connection is possible. Our tutorial REST API Integration with Synesty shows how to do this.
Can I create backups of my data from Google Shopping with Synesty?
Yes – with full automation potential. Synesty offers powerful features to create backups of your data from Google Shopping. With the specific Steps in the Add-On, you can export data from Google Shopping and convert it into various file formats, including CSV, XML, JSON and ZIP, giving you the flexibility to choose the format that best suits your needs. Another advantage of Synesty is its integration with numerous external storage solutions. In addition to S3, Dropbox, Google Drive and FTP(S), Synesty also supports many other cloud and on-premise storage solutions – ensuring you always have a reliable option to store your backups securely. Automation is a core aspect of the backup process with Synesty. You can set up automated backup scenarios that run daily in the late evening hours, minimizing data loss risk and ensuring you always have up-to-date copies on hand. These backups can also serve various business needs: disaster recovery, compliance, or synchronization between different systems or locations. Synesty also supports redundancy: data can be secured on a primary storage location as well as on secondary (cold or hot-standby) systems – adding an extra layer of protection in high-availability environments.

What are the Flows, Connectors, Datastore storage etc.?
- Base-packs, Add-Ons, Upgrades: You need a base-pack (Essentials) to use Synesty. With Essentials, you get all the key core features and capacities for productive integrations with Synesty. Add-ons extend Synesty with additional features, steps and templates for specific systems and use cases. As your needs grow, you can flexibly expand the Essentials package—either with individual capacity upgrades or with the Plus Features for team and governance capabilities and more complex integration architectures.
- A Flow is an executable automated process you create. It contains steps. A flow is comparable to recipe in a cookbook, containing instructions which are executed sequentially.
- Connectors establish connections to data sources and target systems. They read and transfer data, for example via files, APIs, or external systems. They can also call other flows or be triggered by external systems (webhooks). The Basic Package (Essentials) includes a certain number of connectors. If needed, this number can be increased through upgrades. You can recognize connectors by the icon. Examples: FTPDownload, FTPUpload, GetOrders, AddOrders, GetProducts, UpdateProductData, UpdateStock, ExcelWriter, ExcelReader, ExcelSheetUpdate, FlowTrigger, FlowExecutingStep etc. are typical Connectors. Exceptions are e.g.: CSVReader, CSVWriter, JSONReader, VisualJSONReader, HTMLParser, Datastore Steps
- Datastore-storage: If needed, you can store data in a Synesty internal database (a so-called datastore). You can think of datastores as databases or tables. For example, they can store items with freely definable fields such as title, description, price, and inventory. Datastores are filled and read row by row by flows. The number of records you can store is determined by your plan’s capacity. But: the rows you are reading from external sources, processing or exporting are unlimited (Except during the FREE test period).
- Traffic: The amount of data you transfer between by running flows (incoming and outgoing) will be counted per month. Each base pack contains a monthly capacity of inclusive traffic.
- Run: is a single execution of a flow. If you run a single flow 1 x per day you need 31 runs per month. They are included in the Essentials package and cover a wide range of use cases.
If capacity limits are exceeded, flows will no longer be executed. You can try to bring your usage back within your capacity limits by deleting items, or upgrades.
For detailed information on capacity types, see our guide.
How does Synesty handle privacy / GDPR?
Your data is safe. All data is stored in a data center in the European Union (EU) / Germany. You always have full control over all stored data in your account.
